If You Can't See the Puck, How Can You Stop It?

Many goalies don't understand the necessity of vision training, so visual skills often go underdeveloped.

We strive to change this paradigm by showing you just how much you can improve your overall game by deliberately training your eyes!

This Vision Performance Course was designed with all age groups in mind. Goalies will learn how to train the three aspects of vision that every great goalie should understand and develop

These three critical aspects are:

  1. Visual Acuity (seeing clearly)
  2. Motion & Tracking (how your eyes move mechanically)
  3. Processing & Decision Making (putting it all together)

The Process

Develop Elite Eyes

Each month, we'll provide you with four weeks of vision training, each complete with a unique vision training exercise (in video format) to focus on for that week.  These exercises will pinpoint and target specific skills to develop goaltenders' vision in the three core areas: Visual Clarity, Motion, Mechanics & Tracking, and Processing & Decision Making.

Because nobody masters a skill by doing it just once, use the week to progress and train each exercise thoroughly before you move on to the next in the progression.

Skill's You'll Develop

SKILLS YOU'LL DEVELOP:

Convergence & Divergence – Ability to track or follow an object as it moves toward a goalie (eyes converge and come together) or away (eyes diverge and separate).

Depth Perception – Ability to quickly and accurately judge the speed and distance of objects/players.

Dynamic Visual Acuity – Ability to clearly see moving objects...while moving.

Hand/Eye/Body Coordination – Ability to respond to visual information, which involves timing and body control.

Visual Pursuits – Ability to follow an object accurately.

Visual Acuity – The sharpness and clarity of your vision.

Visual Concentration – Ability to control your visual system for better awareness and less distractions.

Visualization – Ability to picture something in your mind while you are concentrating and seeing something else. Your brain doesn’t know the difference between performing the activity or just visualizing it.

Visual Reaction Time – The speed at which your brain interprets and reacts to your opponent’s actions.

ALL of these skills are taught in the Vision Performance Course, including many more! The Doctors at McDonald Eye Care and the VPC produced the exercises to be applicable for all athletes, but especially goaltenders.  Any and every goalie is welcome to participate in this course, and there are no pre-requisites required.
